Malah, mereka mempertahankan langkah mereka sebagai salah satu cara untuk mempromosikan seks selamat. Seks selamat? Apakah itu? Well, I'm not saying I'm an ortodoks. Cuma, bukankah pencegahan itu lebih baik? Kalau merbahaya, why take the risk?
Dalam ISLAM, tidak ada trying to play safe. Zina tetap HARAM. Walaupun memakai kondom ataupun apa-apa untuk mengelakkan kehamilan. Mengapa susah sangat kerajaan ataupun pihak-pihak ini untuk menerimanya. Tak perlu mempromosikan kaedah selamat untuk melakukan seks HARAM. Its just not right!
While the practice may raise concern among Catholic students and parents - some organisers of prom nights in private colleges have no qualms about placing sponsored condoms in goodie bags, or making them freely available.
In defence, condom manufacturers like Durex say they only distribute the prophylactics with good intentions - as a sex-education effort and not to encourage students to practise pre-marital sex.
SSL Healthcare senior product manager Chan Chow Lee said since the company does not have cash-sponsorship policy for proms and balls organised by these institutions, the condoms are provided as door-gifts.
"We only have a few colleges which approach us for sponsorships and it only happens once a year. We also feel that these students are leaving the college.
"It is not to endorse sex among college students but safe sex among those already doing it," she said.
"The condoms are aimed to leave them with some sex-education, especially with the attached leaflets promoting safe-sex," she said.
