Assalamualaikum and hi there fellow readers!
I have to apologize deeply for my 'silence' so long. It was all because I was so eager to try the all-new Windows Vista. It started when my housemate installed it on his PC, which was a challenge for me, myself. I had to try it, no matter what! What to say, I am a computer freak after all. Hehe...
Installing Vista wasn't so much hassle. Its far easier than installing Windows XP; easier in the sense of user friendly. Microsoft did copy the interface used by most Linux-based-OS though. Maybe they had to agree that Linux-based-OS is far better than them. Hehe...
After trying Vista for 2 days and 1 night, it was too troublesome. The final release was nearly nothing new compared to most of the Linux-based-OS (new compared to the current Windows XP tough). The interface looks kind of cool, have to admit that. But it was so unstable that it keeps on crashing. Linux never crashed; no matter how heavy the software is. Wonder why?
Most of the software used for my Windows XP also couldn't be used for this Vista. I don't know why Vista is too choosy. It is user friendly, but not software friendly. The automatic driver detection for my hardware was nice, but I couldn't get my audio to work. That happens often with Windows OS. Linux OS can detect hardware drivers automatically, no need to install. Amazing huh?
At the end of my 2nd day trial, I had enough with Vista. It was a crap. Well, at least for the time being, it is a crap. Maybe after several 'service pack', there will be improvement. Now I'm back using Windows XP with Vista Transformation Pack 5.5. Even though I like Linux better, but I couldn't totally convert to Linux yet.
I have my own reasons. I use a 64-bit processor. So, I had to install a 64-bit Linux (I use Ubuntu; just to let you know...). I know that Linux can also run Windows software using Wine or such programs, but I couldn't find any suitable for 64-bit Ubuntu. Damn!
At the end of the day, here I am, still using Windows XP. I don't have much choice yet. Because of all this formatting and installing, I failed to update my blog. Sorry. I just couldn't put aside my habit.
Anyway, enough with excuses I think. I will try to keep back on track with my blog next week (since I'm going on some outstation task starting tomorrow until Sunday). Can't wait to be back writing. Sorry guys... Didn't mean to let you guys down. Try not to do it again (can't promise tough...).
Wassalam...
